When my Dad was in the hospital last year, I made something like a dozen trips to Houston. I never was called out for my 'dop' kit (personal items), which were all over 3.5 oz. I also use a belly-bag rather than a wallet and pocket stuff. I actually forgot to take out a pocket knife one trip and it got through TSA.

These goofs have a power issue... they think they are god. I am not going into conspiracy stuff, but I really do think there is a better way.

I am SOOO glad I do not have to travel anymore!!!!!

I am curious. Do people fly on private plane have search requirement?

Might be interesting to visit a few medium to larger corporate airports (non-airline places) and have a look-see. I doubt there is anywhere near the security.

MeThinks what TSA was about back when was a way to create govt jobs... and using fear was the trigger that 'sold' it to the American public. Funny how the pubilc is like sheep and never questions things...

The bomb found in England contained 400 grams (14 oz) of PETN, five times the amount needed to level a house. The one found in Dubai contained 300 grams (11 oz) of PETN.

By comparison, the bomb in the terrorist suspect's underwear in the attempted 2009 Christmas Day bombing contained only about 80 grams (2.8 oz) of PETN. Hans Michels, professor of safety engineering at University College London, said that just 6 grams (0.2 oz) of PETN—around 50 times less than was used—would be enough to blow a hole in a metal plate twice the thickness of an aircraft's skin.

Explosives were to blow up the cargo plane over the east coast of the US. With the amount of packages that get shipped by airmail a day it is only time before one gets through. Wonder how they could sell that one to the public.

The TSA is out of control! I must fly regularly for my job just as the pilots must fly for theirs. A pilot could just as easily crash the plane so what is with requiring them to be subjected to the xrays and frisking. It is obvious that the TSA has something else in mind such as control over people as opposed to real security.

Now the body pat downs have started to evolve into handling our private parts. This is nuts and needs to be dealt with. I am so glad the pilots are now objecting.

What is your take on this?

I had not thought of that one... I remember carrying a handgun on a corporate jet years ago.

MeThinks this is a fear driven government program... however; how to keep terrorists off transport category airplanes does seem to be an problem difficult to solve.
