The thread did not start with a "simple" question. It started with a false conclusion by you. I answered your questions, thought it might be interesting to expand on "your" conclusion and it seems you don't want to. Which is fine of course but it has been interesting.

True. I later acknowledged the mistake and re-phrased it into a simple question.

On the other hand Christians that do understand the significance of the cartoon can also feel offended by it if they feel it paints Christians in a bad light.

The same can be said for the Mohamed cartoon. There are those in both religions that would rather stick their head in the sand rather than confront the fact that the cartoons have a grain of truth to them. In the case of the Mohamed cartoon ignoring the message will result in the death of people if Muslims do not heed the message. In the case of the Jesus cartoon, if we take the route some conservatives recommend and remove all socialist programs the government administers, well same result as above, some people will die.
I have studied the issue and looked at it from different angles and I will concede that he may have intended it as "hypocrisy" but in doing so with very poor judgement. By not posted about it you can view it as an attack on the Christian faith.

I'm not sure which intent he had but that was my first impression. So I am willing to allow that he meant it as hypocrisy since he claims that was his motive and give him the benefit of the doubt. See I can be reasonable at times here and cut pagey some slack. Thank you, thank you very much

Even with viewing the cartoon in the context of hypocrisy I felt it was not appropriate as an avatar in that it would provoke strong feelings against pagey from some and poison their responses to his posts before even reading them. While we do not have to agree with each other here we still have to get along to keep this a viable forum. The powers that be (myself being a little power) try to balance freedom of speech with the well being of the site.

It may not make us popular at times but we are not really doing it for popularity. (We are doing it for the lucrative pension plan at the end of our term.)

If you have a problem starting threads it may be something on your end as there is no function here to prevent you from starting threads.

It is your opinion and it is fine. This all goes without saying of course. With that being said there are avatars out there which are solely meant to antagonize or atleast to denigrate something or somebody. Also you are judging it on how other people will react to it. It may be that you know your members, ARP people etc. very well lol. Bottom line the avatar is thought provoking and has a positive message maybe that is why it is deemed inappropriate.

You are pandering to your unruly base.
Put another way you are so sure they cannot understand a simple positive message. One that is the core of Christianity. It seems to me somebody got a talking to behind the scenes.
It also seems to get your way it is to your advantage to be less intelligent and more violent in nature sometimes.

Funny when members were asking you to remove the cartoon as they thought it was offensive and you had little to say to defend your choice in using it. It was I that gave the analysis of what the cartoonist's message in the cartoon was. It would almost seem that you did not catch on to its message before I outlined it.

Many people talk behind the scenes, some get a talking to, what is your point? Your last sentence is hard to decipher.

    The last sentence, an example.

Salmon are running up the river. A man picks a great place to catch them, by hand. Along comes a big Bear and violently gets his way over the more intelligent man.

I do not recall any talk of the avatar until after it was removed. That discussion w/Glenn and Slinger happened after it was removed.

LOL. Printer I will admit that your explaination was pure poetry and maybe I could not have done it as well as you. I actually read your explaination to my son last night and praised you for it. But your assertion that I did not understand it is laughable. You should slap yourself on the back but to say that is too much.

I was speculating that your defense of the avatar was caught by some mods etc. and I assumed they did not like it and you seemed to change your tone about it.

It also seems to get your way it is to your advantage to be less intelligent and more violent in nature sometimes. It seems to me that people that could not understand a simple message and acted as they did in the "Obbameter" thread seem to get their way. There is so much more I could say about this but I won't.

It would almost seem you changed your mind to the meaning of the avatar if one reads your posts regarding it. So maybe you don't understand it or were forced to change your mind.

Feel free to explain any of my posts, avatars or sig lines to me if you wish.
