Shouldn't that metal tape give ample heat transfer from the bulb to the suction line????

At least it's on the dang suction line! One of our techs found one (fortunately not our job) on the liquid line this summer. And a screwdriving wedging the contactor on since the LP switch shut it down due to a huge leak on the low side.............!

Wow, that's nice. Creativity at its best. A tech I work with found some bulbs not even mounted, just hanging in the unit. Been like that for several years. Was a new customer.

Just wondering, has an installer ever tried to solder one to the suction line? Then I can say I saw it all. But probably not.

saw one earlier this summer that was installed with that type
of super glue for copper pipe joints & wrapped with elec. tape.
held in position good so just installed the strap they left on top of
    the furnace & insulated it.
had another one that someone had soft soldered a piece of 3/4
to the suction line & just used it as a well to slide the bulb in
& had used thermal paste inside the well.

I saw a pic once...maybe on here , where a guy had actually soldered the bulb to the suctionline.
