    I was taught if you have to flush a system to flush it with a commercially available flushing agent. You still have to use nitrogen or argon to get it out of the system. I know at one time r-12 was how it was done. I for one would avoid any contractor who says he does things like this. It kinda makes me wonder what else this guy does the wrong way.

    I am not trying to do this. The guy was referred to me for some duct work. According to the state hvac licensing site, he doesn't appear listed. Just a guy with a truck and a card. Would he really do it- or just braze the lines and say he did that... No clue. Not gonna find out either.

    He probably doesn't have any nitrogen, has never heard of a flow meter to use with it, is just giving you a line of bull so he can take your money. It is used to flush the O2 from the copper while brazing, not necessarily to clean out or flush the lineset of dirt or contaminates. There is a flushing agent for that.
