I will be relocating to Ohio in February and l'm looking for advice or job opportunities. I'm currently a hvac/r tech in the US Air Force with 5 years experience, my discharge will be honorable. I would like work in the area of Toledo to Cleveland and as far south as Mansfield. I have experience in all aspects of commercial and residential. I would prefer a position in the commercial industry. Is union or non-union recommended for my situation. Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

When I lived in Toledo the local pipefitters 50 would always put fliers on your windows trying to recruit service techs,it seemed they were always short handed. There is alot of commercial work going on there most of the time, but I have not lived there for about five years.
Take your time & do it right!

Unions rule the roost in Ohio. Which is one of three reasony why I would question your sanity for moving there.
The other two reasons would be: the weather. It's Ohio.
Especially Cleveland or Toledo. My gosh man, why would you want to move there, of all places?
And no, this is not jesting. I am serious.
You may as well consider Detroit, if your considering Toledo.
Circleville, maybe. Zanesville, almost .... But Toledo?!?!

I was born & raised in Toledo,as far as big cities go it is a little old ladies town. They have alot to do for you & the kids too.You reek the benefits of good pay that a big city brings without such a high crime rate.I cannot say much about the weather I live in wisconsin now & they always tell me how much more snow they got than I did when I call home.coyash if you do go there try to stay in west toledo it is a nice area.If you have kids you must take them to the zoo it's great! They also have a decent art museum, the library system is down right awesome!Originally posted by R12rules
