Favorite Korean War movie.
We have discussed war pictures several times so lets discuss Korean films now.
Watching Men in War now and I was thinking about other Korean films. One of my favorites which is more an anti war film is Pork Chop Hill. Another is God was my Co Pilot.

Weird. Just watched Pork Chop Hill last week. But it is a fictionalized account, with some facts. But one of the most striking thing is the depiction of the North Koreans. Even with all the license they could muster they could not depict them as bizarre as they really were or have become.
Wish a modern film maker would give it a try.

I just watched this movie the other day and I thought it was actually pretty good. It was called Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War. The movie was made in South Korea and is subtitled in English. Definitely worth a viewing if your interested. You can read more about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taegukgi_(film))

I don't know that I have ever seen a Korean War movie, nor did we learn much about it in school. I did have some Korea vets as teachers and friends of the family, and General Ridgeway was from our school district.
Here's a good history I recently read.

Two interesting films are One Minute to Zero with Robert Mitchum and Fixed Bayonets with Richard Basehart.

Now that was a favorite of mine that I havn't seen for years. Talk about calvary showing up at the last second. Almost needed marshmellows for the barbaque about to happen.

I really liked the LONGEST DAY being there were so many big name actors ....... even tho it was world war 2 and not the Korean war
