what kind of jackets u guys wearing ?

for the last 3 years I've been wearing a carhartt that was pretty decent except on the few days temps hit the teens. at the beginning of summer I trashed it as it was worn down and I'm interested in getting something a little better but one that also looks good. any recommendations ? what do u guys wear ?

I wear a Carhartt or something similar. I've had no problems until the weather gets down to around 0 or a little below.

I also carry a set of Carhartt bibs, 2 pairs of gloves (Liner and overglove), a mad bomber cap and a face wrap.

When I transition out of cargo shorts and short sleeve logo shirt, I wear jeans and a long sleeve button down oxford shirt, with long johns underneath.

As temps get below 65, I add a Carhartt black work vest.

That takes me to the point of about 45 degrees. Then, I leave the vest in the truck and put on the Carhartt work coat with hood.

I've got a really heavy carhart that I can be comfortable in some major cold (-20 or so), not that I like to be outside in that, but it's not terrible.

I've got the company issued carhart like jacket, it's pretty decent for almost all winter, it's a medium weight hooded jacket.

They have given us a jacket for the milder weather. It came with a wool liner. Not comfortable at all, and way way too warm for mild weather, oh and uncomfortable! You can take the liner out, but now you're covered with a carhart like fabric only, so it's basically worthless.

I've got a carhart jacket, it's about as thick as a decent sweatshirt, works decent for the chilly days.

I've got a ton of gloves, from just leather to "hey I can't move my fingers" thick. I've got insulated bibs for the times you need some feeling in your legs. Most important, overshoes and good boots. Keep the feet warm and the rest of you will be much better.

Once my body transitions from summer to winter, normally I'm good working outside in a long sleeve uniform shirt down to around 30 deg if it's not too windy. But after a month of nice warm temps, that 50 degree morning makes you wonder how the heck you'll survive a winter lol

Carhartt light (hoodies) to Carhartt artic (full hooded coveralls). Heck I even have a couple of them fancy designer Carhartts for those (cold) nights on the town.

Their site is easy to navigate as well

carhardt jacket with the flannel lining.
dickies vest with the sherpa lining. (carhardt used to make them, i found that the one that
Art posted doesn't seem to 'wear' rite. it's too stiff.)

For christmas this year, as my wife is trying to do things to get me prepared for the field in these brutal Iowa winters, she's buying me a black Carhartt jacket, those things are warm and toasty down to -30 with wind chills! I'm also going to supplement that with a set of black bibs, and maybe also for those really cold days, buy a set of black coveralls. Maybe brown...not sure. Which color would you guys recommend?
