I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, over a year of use and no problems, although I don't use the temp sensors which could be why I haven't had any. But I just ordered a set of 1250's, so the testo will be backups now
I dont install leaks, i just fix em

Lets see if this gets removed..............
While I've only had mine for a few weeks, the only real problem I've had is understanding I have to look past the screen and really read what it's telling me and not assuming that there is something wrong with it! I'm 0 for 2 so far. Oh and thanks to Testo for not getting upset with me for not believing one rep vs the other and taking the time to call me back for an issue I THOUGHT I had. Gotta give credit where credit is due.

So the outer glass lens is integrated into the LCD and a integral part?

well, I have been a supporter of the Testo stuff and have had my issues with the 550 and now I have another.
the hook, pot metal as it appears, broke and the unit fell 1.5 feet of the side of a condenser and the high side temp reading quit.
It is not the probe, as both work on the low side.
So off to Testo they go, the buy local keeps looking better and better as this is the 4th or 5th time sending things out for repair.
Quite the bummer as summer just hit here and a/c calls should be piling up!!!

Ok, I finally broke down and got a set. The 550-2. There hanging in the van now along with my collection of analog gauges. I guess I'll see for myself how they will hold up.
It does feel odd carrying them after using analog for so long.
There is no beefer hook for the current 550 from what Testo told me.

I guess the new style doesn't fit on the old version Txv but the new ones are different.

It would be a really tricky job. You would need to make a really neat job of cutting out the window and then shape a piece of clear plastic to glue in position. Not impossible, but it woud be difficult to end up with a neat repair.
Might take it to a plastics company to see if they would give it a go.
They made a Hoshizaki part for me, better than new.
It has certainly taught me a lesson about Testo, seems they are a manufacturer
that uses sales to check out the reliability of their instruments.
So for me, Digi-cool rules. Cautious release of new product, leads to happy customers.
Funny, I was checking to see if there was any word on when the Digi-Cool Paradigm manifold may be coming, and all these threads on Testo stuff come up...
Reminds me, I need to send my 550 in for repair, the display quit working on it last year when it fell off the top of a 30# refrigerant jug onto concrete.
Other than my first gen 523 and my pocket manometer, I've not had a good experience with the durability of Testo products. I'll spare you the story of my 2nd gen 523...
My Digi-Cool BTD-1000 has been through hell and back over the last 6 years, and still works like new. My DRSA-1250 is only a year old, but shows every sign of being just as tough, if a bit more battery hungry.
Howdy Mark
My 1stGen 523 is blanking out on me and was wondering what your feelings were on the 570.
The only reason I was looking at it was for the data logging since something is up with the 523 but the software costs more than a freaken 550 .
I'm not rough on tools but 5hit Happens.
Do you think I would be taking my chances or should I tough it out and wait for something else.
