Bac. is good, also Yokogawa. I installed some a few years ago and they worked real nice. Stay away from Trane's Tru-Sense and RMWD, the RMWE is a little better.
I understand the trane tru sense monitors are a pos.I remember alot of positive feedbach on the bacharach monitors. We're looking to replace our trane pos and wander if any feedback on these. thanks in advance.Ps we have two trane centrifigal chillers with r-123.

sherlock best bang for the buck.
Interesting subject. I don't know off hand, but I would not be shocked if it was determined that there was only a hand full of companies actually making thes monitors and branding them.
eg. Some people hate Trane drives, but love Danfoss and Graham. Point being, same drive.

I have used MURCARO brand systems. They are pretty simple.

The Bacharach is a Yokogawa with their name slapped on. It's a very good product....3 1/2 years....no problems with it monitoring 3 220 ton centrifugals.
How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?
I am not sure about other manufacturers, but I think that Mine Safety Appliances (MSA) builds Trane's refrigerant monitor for them. Look at MSA's website and search for the "Chillgard LT". I think it is the same unit.
The Sherlocks are good monitors. Have used quite a few and never had a problem.
Keep in mind that...as the Rules & Regulations are presently worded, Ya' must at least have one...

"A Refrigerant Monitor must be mounted...."
It sez' nothing about even hooking up power to it....
Ho-Humm......
Ain't "None" of us as smart as "All" of us..
I agree it says mounting, but who would question an item for safety?
Take a good look at SenTech .....
Good monitors, reasonable, very effective.

Hands down, Vulcain is the best product on the market
We have had good results with a Mine Safety Appliance
Chillguard RT. We've only had to replace one sampling pump since its installation in 1994. Good luck.

OK, then you can be the guy that has to brave shrinkage while working with the r123. I'm sure that you were being facetious with the above comments. Still it's not exactly like working with r11.Originally posted by RichardL

Resporatory protection should be worn when performing all operations during which there is potential for exposure of 50 ppm, for and entire 8 to 12 hour work day. Taken from the DuPont site-
