    Question

Is there anyway to install some type of time delay alarm on a walkin freezer that would remind personnal that the door is open? The facility I work at has a commercial size kitchen/dinning bldg, and staff are constantly leaving door open after accessing product. Maybe a strobe light as well. Any suggestions??? confronting kitchen supervisor does not work.

    Thanks for your help.

You could install a door closer or curtain. Kitchen people do not understand the concept of closing the door!

    Confused

I have had the same problem.I have hung plastic curtains, talked with supervisors and workers, had fits of rage and nothing helps except curtains alittle. They will close reach-ins but anything they can walkin to freezer or cooler they will leave door open. Sorry I can't help but your not the only one who has this problem.

You could install a door switch circuit , that feeds through a time delay (maybe 5 minutes), that circuit would/should activate either a ambulance siren or a train air horn and strobe light.

Yeah, plastic curtains help, until they tie them to the side because they are in the way, duh

Hook up a door switch to a delay, and sound a buzzer, that anoys them.
People will ignore a light when they are busy.

Be glad you got a job.

Dont try and teach an old dog, new tricks!

It's not your problem to fit it. It is only your responsibility to fix the freezer when IT breaks.

If you can have a door closure installed ... so be it. Have that taken care of.

But as far as creating attention to the door beling left open and setting off alarms ..... you only draw attention to yourself.

The issue here is you have people problems. You already know that!

And this is something outside of your job description!

You certainly dont want to come across as the grouch!

    I feel your pain. BT/DT....

Some good freezer door companies have adjustable spring loaded doors. Where I work (in the Arcitc) all outside doors on all buildings are freezer doors. Its -40 up here alot of the time so freezer doors keep the warm in insted of out. Anyway they all have wind up adustable springs to assist in closing against the wind and folks too busy to shut the door....

Yes - lots of them do have heaters - this place started pumping oil in 1976 and lots of these doors are origional so you can be sure that all the heaters dont work. Im brand new on here so I will try to figure out how to send a pic...
