I have used the same branch of a multinational bank for seven years in my small hometown of 27000 people. I have run millions through there in the buisness account. they recently hae stopped putting the balance avaialble on the deposit tickets to save ink. if i want it, i have to go inside, not the drive through. its what, eight characters and some commas? it pissed me off soo much that i fina;y opened an account with another bank for the business.

US paper currency in 1985 was issued as a Federal Reserves Note, just like today's money. It's basically an IOU from our government.

You'd have to go back before 1968, to the days of Silver Certificates...which were payable in silver on demand...to get the true value of your Dollar.
