Actually when a family's income gets higher people have fewer kids. As western societies grew wealthier they have fewer babies and immigration has to make up for the lack of growth in the population.

On the dumbing down I kind of agree with you to a point. That is why we try to give people in the lower economic circles opportunities to break the cycle of poverty. Otherwise they just pop out babies and we will end up with a less intelligent population.

Mind you, we may already be there.

You mean like we give Indians on the reservations opportunities to better themselves and they take all of those advantages and do great things?

Well I agree that we may already there with no way out. Smart parents in general have smart kids (high IQs) and vs versa. Don't have to spell it out here. Thank you, thank you very much

Yes they owe us so much. And after all we have done for them.
Do you mind if I use that?

Most likely because of better opportunities and home life. I know many cases where there was much strife in lower income families caused by being a paycheck away from disaster. Kind of hard doing your studies when instead of geting help with them you are ducking fights or arguments.

I do not know about great things but function successfully in our society would be a win as far as I am concerned.

I agree, however they do not even do that after all the years of free taxpayer funds we have poured into the reservations.

In fact, it seems the very opposite has happened. Instead of giving them a helping hand to better themselves they have become dependent on our assistance. This is just one example of what government assistance often does.

People in government housing also become dependent on handouts instead of getting back on their own. We create a system of dependence instead of simply providing temporary assistance until they can care for themselves and become productive members of society.

This is what I have against most government social programs. They do the very opposite of what was intended.

And I am required by law to pay the bill.
