anyone ever design a heater for a dog house?

Trying to figure out a good way of providing heat to a large type insulated doghouse....found the following via google

    http://cozywinters.com/shop/dog-house-heater-ac.html

i'd like to be able to control the temp. with a thermostat and would probably put the rubber flaps, kinda like they use for walk-in boxes at the door....

I know this sounds weird. Around here most people put flaps over the door and have an electrician wire a light socket in there and use a 100 watt bulb for heat.

All that's necessary is a 1500 Watt space heater and a long extension cord - resistance heat is expensive so borrow some electricity from the neighbors, exterior outlets permitting.

    Is this thread for real?

HAHAHA....let me explain a little more.

It's for a couple of sea otters in which they built a little doggy house basically out of plywood and insulated. The problem is that if the air temp is too low (below 80 at night) they won't mate, which apparently is a problem.

I originally told the keeper, "duh...just throw in a heat lamp".....well I guess they think it may somehow burn itself on the metal screen on the cieling of the box. I guess they tried the heat mats and the otters would leave, weren't happy.

So yeah this whole thing is pretty silly.....

Animal keepers tried heating the floor already and they are convinced that the animals don't like it......

I had a doghouse built about 20 years ago it had self regulating heat trace that you use to keep pipes from freezing in the floor. I had an underground GFI protected service for it. The doghouse was a 4 by 8 with a 4-½ foot ceiling with a 10/12 roof. It had R12 in the walls and R30 in the attic. I can’t remember the size of the covered front porch. I know it was the width of the doghouse and I guess it was about three-foot deep. My wife couldn’t have children so I had the dog. I miss that dog. I can still see his eyes, how he would look at me when he wanted something.

You have to do a Manual J, Manual D, Manual S, and if it's a Chihuahua, a Manuel G. (Gomez).

A lot simpler to just get a Siberian Husky.
