Odd washing machine problem - timer?

Keep opening it up and seeing an inch or 2 of water in the tub after it finishes.
Goes all the way through the cycle normally - and no water remains in the tub. But then a second later you hear the valve open again for several seconds - then the valve shuts off.
Would that be the timer?

I'm not an expert but that sounds like the Timer to me.

Have you tried some of the other settings ie Gentle, delicate, etc. to see if it does it at the end of those too?

Thanks for the reply. Just tried those and they don't do it. But the permanent press cycle does it every time. So it pretty much has to be the timer.

You might get sticker shock from that timer.

I looked into a new timer for a washer about five years ago, found a better, slighty scratched washer at the discount appliance store for less money. Granted this was nothing fancy, may make sense for a new front load or similiar.

Why don't you try a washing machine with a timer? There are available washing machine I guess in your local appliance store. My sister bought a washing machine with its own timer.

Forget using the perm press cycle, if it acts up anymore buy a new washer.
I had my fill of working on them years ago, expensive parts and then something else breaks.
