3-ton unit was serviced a couple of days ago. The unit ran all day and most of the night. Woke up in the early morning and slightly noticed a possible burning smell coming from the return. (Not from the vents, just the return. hmmm.) Maybe it was just my imagination, so I turned the unit off. The next morning the unit checked out fine. The ground surrounding the unit had been damp the next morning also.

During the service call the only thing that was replaced was the compressor.

Not trying to DIY just want to be somewhat knowledgeable and believe the field to be interesting.
