If you have Tracer Summit installed it comes with 4 pdf's that are placed on the hard drive. The links are located under Programs -> Tracer Summit -> User Guides.

Can grab them from a customer site also if you don't have a copy.

    Scrooloose,

Im working on a tracer summit network that appears to have problems on the comm 4 links. The client does not have a complete network drawing and dont wat to pay for the time that required to do such a task. Therefore I'm going straigth to the problem to see if you or some one can give me some advice. What it is happening is that I have this cable that when I connected to comm 4A several VAV BOXES start communicating then when I take it out from comm 4A and connect it to comm 4B the previous VAV BOXES go offline and another group of boxes start communicating. It seems that that cable it is not serving a daisy chain network probably branch or maybe mesh (dont even know if a mesh topology could be used with summit).
    Several question:

    1) Are comm 4A and comm 4B links identical in terms of the protocols and devices they can comunicate with? if so, why is that some VAV's are seen in one link while others are seen on the other link?.
    2) If the network that the cable is serving has a branch topology, do I need to install the 270 ohms terminator resistor at the end of every branch no matter the distance?( the iom it is not clear on this).

I will appreciate any help on this.

Forget to mention that I would like to buy rover. Do you know how can I buy this. I have not tryied with my local office but I dont think they will be very cooperative. It is amazing how they want me to keep selling a lot of TRANE HVAC units, chillers, parts ect but dont want me to learn about their controls. I'm negotiating with them to become part of the TASCO programm but if I can find tools and manuals in advance it will be better, so if any want can help me on this I will appreciated.

Sounds like you have a BMTX BCU. Comm4 A & B service the same types of equipment. It sounds like someone really, really goofed on either the wiring, the programming or both. How many boxes total on the wire? It sounds like the BCU was programmed with some boxes on the A link and the rest on the B link, but a single twisted pair was pulled to all the boxes.

Are you in Puerto Rico? Is so, I'm available!

I think mallron is right. Sounds like you have 1 single link and someone programmed it to have two links used.

#2: you do not need a resistor on comm4 link regardless.

Re-programming Summit would be too much to type.

The PR comment was me trying to get a free vacation, I'm in Maryland.
