Good luck and keep us posted on how it is going. Congrats!
Finally found a new job. 3 bucks less pay, less hours (at least to start) and strictly residential-no more light commercial & refrigeration, BUT BY GOD it's a job & I'm happy. In today's economy I consider it an achievment. Good luck to anyone else looking for work!

Congrats on the new job! How do you feel about only residential work? I took a pay cut from resi to commercial. However there is soooo much more to learn in commercial. I dont regret it one bit. Love working on the bigger stuff.
Good luck on your venture.
Gotta have the right tool for the job!
Where is all the stuff MADE IN THE USA?

A little sad about it, but I did start out pretty late in life. I'm 48 and I started into this when I was 43. I've shifted my focus for the future with getting BPI certified and am hoping that will get me someplace good a little quicker. I can't catch up with the guys who have been doing commercial for 20 years-I don't have that much time left.
Thanks to everyone for the kind comments.
Boy that didn't last long! Looks like I just can't stand the kitchen anymore. Tried starting a new job after being un-employed for a while and out of shape during a heat wave. I've had heat stroke before. I tried my best though, that is the only reason I don't feel terrible about it. Being 49 don't help matters much either. I'm still optimistic about becoming an energy auditor though. I'll just keep my studies going on that line & find some work I can handle while waiting to see if the new Homestar Bill creates a market for me. Still kinda sucks, I can handle regular heat & it's just weird how that high heat has such an effect on me.
i am still going to give u a standing O. You have tried what others would not even consider. With your attitude i am sure u will succeed at your goals .
Thanks man, my wife just gave me a good idea. She said with the lack of BPI people that can proctor people in the certification relating to ac, heat pump, & heating due to them not even having their epa licence to even get certified themselves, she said I should get my field test out of the way & then become a proctor myself in those areas and get something going that way. I'm on it.
