Good Job Chad! It's still amazing to me that a HO can be oblivious to what was certainly a problem without noticing any of the warning signs. Surely they are now sold on the value of smoke alarms and a good Co detector.
I hope someone from Coleman/Evcon appreciates that they were just saved from another lawsuit. It's also nice to see that your employer had the good taste to give you the deserved credit rather than trying to make out that management did all the work!

Well, you guys who do these in thirty minutes must catch some pretty big fish too! But seriously, the kits are getting easy to do. It's the inspection that takes me the extra time. We've replaced seven exchangers so far and I've done about 21 kits. The roof jack is the biggest pain, and it takes an extra pair of hands to hold the new heat exchanger in place while someone else puts on the three bolts on top that hold it to the top of the cabinet. Then nothing wants to line up when putting it back together.
I watched the video, and at some point I always think of the guy, (who somehow reminds me of Elmer Fudd), saying, "Simply install the new heat exchanger like this" or something to that effect, while the camera cuts away and back, Voila! it's done.
KILL DA WABBIT, KILL DA WABBIT!
LOL
Yes I have dont upgrades in under 30 minutes, but then adding drive and stuff it always seems to get close to 1.5 Not sure if Coleman has paid us on the work yet. Also, are you keeping the old heat exchangers? I agree the ONLY part that is not fun is bolting those 3 nuts onto the new exc, not fun at all by yourself.
Is Coleman paying for a new chimney for you guys? When I need to replace the exchanger, the exhaust will not come apart, gotta cut it off and install a new chimney. They are paying for the chimneys not too but were not at the start.
Yes that article is pretty good, but I noticed the quote about 9ppm in 8 hours being fatal, lol. Not true, oh well. This place is great to work for, they take care of the guys unlike EVERY shop I have been at before.

Boy Coleman really tries to make it sound like THEY were not the problem. Nice, THEY oversized the orifice didnt they?Where does a furnace run cooler than Minnesota, I mean the R/A goes under a home when its -20 out, sure there is insulation but come on.

Also when you click on that area code, find a dealer thing, it comes up with 6 differant companies in this area. as far as we know, I am the ONLY tech in town that has been on this. Strange, now that it hit the paper they are sending a guy with me to get trained, I am going to get hit hard with these now.

We have a well known MH parts and service center here in town. Odd they are not on the list but carry Coleman. May give them a call to see why.

My guess is they will say no money in it. BUT, after seeing this one that burned through, I think it is our obligation to do this no matter what. People could lose lives. I do think Coleman COULD have paid more time on this, considering what we are doing for THEM.

That article ran in Saturdays paper. The on call guy wasnt happy, he took hunders of calls this weekend asking Q's. Today, the phones rang more that EVER at our shop, we scheduled well over 50 calls by noon. Hundreds of calls.
These are people that had no idea about the recall.
Also replaced another burned through the side furnace today. I am now booked for the winter.

For those of you doing complete furnace changeouts, what are they paying you?

Wonder what happend to warrenty registration cards that came with equipment or M homes. Trash can? Can ya'll charge customers the difference in what warrenty covers and actual labor involved? You have possibly saved many lives, good work man.
