He coached me for a couple days to help me get through my master exam... He'd ask a question, look to see how long it took me to find the applicable code, then identify what misunderstanding led to me looking in the wrong section....etc..

I got my license, and until he was gone... never gave much thought to the time he sacrificed for a guy he didn't know personally.

I always just thought I'd meet him in person and have the chance to buy him a beer or whatever and say thanks.

    You just never know.

Appreciate people, and tell them how you feel right now. They might not be here tomorrow.

This thread should be sticked, not for months on end but at least until his funeral, he contributed a lot to this site for the last 10+ years

I have a feeling there is some bad blood held by some here towards him because he was willing to call a spade a spade, and speak up when something wasnt right, by doing so He was just looking out for the member's interests here when others wouldnt

If that is the case, just get over it and pay the man the respect he deserves.

If its an oversight, please make it right.

    Thanks

I was shocked when I read this on my phone from camp.

He helped me on a few things I have been working on improving.

For sure his input will be missed.

I moved this from my post in another thread.

This has been in circulation for a while. It seems to me, Murray took full advantage of being Canadian. Good for you Murray

An Australian's Definition of a Canadian

In case anyone asks you who a Canadian is . . .

You probably missed it in the local news, but there was a report that someone in Pakistan had advertised in a newspaper an offer of a reward to anyone who killed a Canadian – any Canadian.

An Australian dentist wrote the following editorial to help define what a Canadian is, so they would know one when they found one:

A Canadian can be English, or French, or Italian, Irish, German, Spanish, Polish, Russian or Greek. A Canadian can be Mexican, African, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Australian, Iranian, Asian, Arab, Pakistani, or Afghan.

A Canadian may also be a Cree, Metis, Mohawk, Blackfoot, Sioux, or one of the many other tribes known as native Canadians. A Canadian’s religious beliefs range from Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Muslim, Hindu, or none. In fact, there are more Muslims in Canada than in Afghanistan. The key difference is that in Canada they are free to worship as each of them chooses. Whether they have a religion or no religion, each Canadian ultimately answers only to God, not to the government, or to armed thugs claiming to speak for the government and for God.

A Canadian lives in one of the most prosperous lands in the history of the world. The root of that prosperity can be found in the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which recognize the right of each person to the pursuit of happiness.

A Canadian is generous and Canadians have helped out just about every other nation in the world in their time of need, never asking a thing in return. Canadians welcome the best of everything, the best products, the best books, the best music, the best food, the best services, and the best minds.

But they also welcome the least - the oppressed, the outcast, and the rejected.

These are the people who built Canada. You can try to kill a Canadian if you must as other bloodthirsty tyrants in the world have tried but in doing so you could just be killing a relative or a neighbour. This is because Canadians are not a particular people from a particular place. They are the embodiment of the human spirit of freedom. Everyone who holds to that spirit, everywhere, can be a Canadian.
Is this a Fabreze moment? C.Y.D. I'm voting white elephant. 2¢.

Right on target. I recall freaking out once several years ago when he went into his pit bull mode with somebody and wouldn't let go. I learned over time that he rarely argued for the sake of argument. He just didn't want anything he considered questionable to be accepted here as fact. Salaried or not, he was above all an educator.

I have had a very difficult time coming to terms with this the worst of news and this is why I am only now replying here.

It has been some time since I have spoken with Murray and it does not in any way remove the feeling of loss I am dealing with.

A wealth of knowledge and all around great person you will be sadly missed.

    RIP Carnak my friend

I like a spirited discussion, so I will miss Murray. I am saddened that his passing is one like so many, in that it didn't have to happen so soon, had more energetic steps been taken to get medical care.

I think that is a lesson, a final lesson, like Randy's Last Lecture, that Murray can teach us. If you don't feel right, or have a pain, that CAN be a sign of danger. Many guys on this board are MI's waiting to happen, and it doesn't have to be that way.

Let this lesson from Murray have a positive impact on your life, by keeping it preserved to see your grandchildren grow up.

OK, I'll get down off my soapbox now......

Murray...man i'm gonna miss your easily comprehendable answers to tough questions. I'm gonna miss your character for giving beaucoup help to anyone who asked for it.

I'm gonna miss our funny as hell chat sessions when we would jot down Zappa lyrics for no real reason other than we found it funny.

I'm really gonna miss your encouragement as far as my schooling goes. Yeah, I hadn't talked at ya in awhile but that was my working my ass off to understand the stuff. That is what you always told me to do....whatever it takes to get a concept.

As the studies get more difficult, don't be suprised if I look at the sky and ask your opinion. I know that sounded retarded but, if you were to be present when the rubber meets the road, you bet your ass I woulda put out an APB on the forums to get your answer.

Well, i'm sure you are now at rest in a much better place BUT irregardless of that, Myself and all of us in whatever forums, are gonna just plain miss you.

It is not "goodbye", it's more like "so long" because I know we will all meet someday in Heaven's Central Plant and play alot of poker..lol.

    Take care big man, PaBull
