Napolean fireplace pilot wont stay lite
hi im a service tech and this is my problem 2 new gas valves, new generator, and new thermocouple but pilot still keeps going out. no rollouts jumper between thtp and th. nat gas see thru any suggestions? thx

how long you been a service tech, no one in there right mind would replace all these parts blindly, hate to be blunt but seriously. Call Napolean and they should be able to help you.
-
Does it go out immediately when you let off the button? Or is it one of those where it works fine when you are there and they call back a week later and the pilot went out again.
And yeah... seriously... two gas valves? There are ways to test these things you know...

I would concentrate on the thermocoulple.

First thing. You need to check the valve properly instead of just replacing it. Don't be a parts changer. There's already enough of them out there. Making sure the pilot assembly is grounded properly should be your number one. Two you need to make sure the T-Couple is attached onto the valve properly and seated directly on the adapter plate. Measure the mV between the T-Couple and valve. Make sure you have a proper flame hitting the T-Couple also.
Do your check and list what you have done with readings. It will make for an easier answer from all of us.

Also what model is it? If its a bgd34 check to
make sure the restrictor plate is reversed to to can slow down the combustion process.

err.. ya cover basics yet ???
check gas pressure in and out of gas valve ?
ya have a strong pilot ???
may as well swap out unit soon..after 2 gas valves..stop guessing

Is the thermocouple far enough into the pilot? Have you tried increasing the pilot? 2 valves seems a little much....

Have you cleaned the pilot burner and orifice? What about combustion air, have you got a blockage somewhere? What are your millivolt readings? Start with the basics b-4 changing parts needlessly. Work on being a quality tech, not a parts changer as others have stated.
