    Expansion Valves, Brand and Space

Looking for info. from a reliable source (this Forum) on whether or not a Lennox Heat pump (XP 19--R41O) can be mated with a different Brand AHU.

Reason I'm told not, by different Manufacturers, is that they don't test other peoples equipment with theirs and it would probably invalidate any Warranty should it be needed.

Two local Dealers have said no also. One I believe, as they told me up front they want to sell a whole system. Additionally, they added , it would be impossible due to the Expansion Valve differences (Is that not another name for a Metering device ?). They wouldn't answer my question "why not", but started the all to familiar deviating from the question.
Other guys quoted and told us no problem, then changed their mind two days later.

Essentially, just looking to replace the AHU . Lennox I'm told, has no 5 ton unit that is small enough to fit in the space.
Historically have had Heat pump and AHU from different manufacturers running and had no problems.

Appreciate any guidance and opinions folks. Thanks.

You can use a third party coil.
Such as ADP, Superior, etc. They "rate" their coils to be used on OEM's heat pulls, and air conditioned condensers. They don't actually test. They do computer simulations. Never heard of a manufacturer, that denied warranty when you use one of those coils.

If you use a coil from Trane on a Lennox condenser. Then the coil is not rated. And may lower your capacity by a lot, or a little.

On heat pumps, it can cost you more to heat and cool with.

Nothing, it's a bad install, long story, but AHU is being removed from Garage and re-installed correctly in the attic, as it has been for 20 years or so .
Been told the Lennox CBX32 won't fit.
