    Lennox National Account Service

I am talking to Lennox National Account Services about a job. Have any of you worked for them or know what they are like to work for? What I have heard from them sounds good.

Lennox takes 1 hour per day from your paycheck for driving time, they dont pay you to be on call, makes you pay part of the uniforms costs, their pay and bennies are average at best, they go through lots of techs. good luck.

I interviewed with NAS once and what they offered wasn't quite what I was looking for.

I've been with LNAS since they were IBS. I feel they are a good fit for me, others may not feel the same way. The hour someone posted about giving back is 30 mins. in the morning and 30 mins. on your way home. Some companies don't want to pay until you get to your forst job and stop paying when you leave the last. They do charge $5 for uniforms and i have heard we have great insurance but you do pay for half of it. I have the family plan with $20 copay and $400 deductable for about $100 a week. I can see any doctor I want without a referal. It's all light commercial work and year round steady at 40 - 50 in the winter. Depending on the area.
Hope this helps. I pesonally love the company and the work they do, but to each his own.

ibs4life, How is their training? Do you work on many brands of A/C or mostly Lennox? Do you do any refrigeration I noticed something about restaurants?

I think the training is fair. But I guess it would depend on the manager in the area you are working in. We do get access to an online site were they have a bunch of training modules (everything from checking caps to airflow to Microsoft Office, you name it and there is a section for it) and I have never been told no you can't go to that for any type of training. We do pay for all the NATE certifications and it is actually a requirement that you get the A/C Service within a certain timeframe. .

We work on all manufactures and install whatever the customer wants.

I have worked on an ice machine once a long time ago. Again each area is different and I know they have been getting some resturant stuff but only for HVAC, not the R (thank god) I eat out too much for that...

The best thing I can tell you is to ask the manager you are talking to and be upfront with what you are looking for. Ask if you can talk to some of the techs that currently work for him. The way my branch operates is the manager works for the techs. You just have to go out and do your job. There is a lot of freedom with this company but with that freedom comes the responsibiliy of doing the right thing, alot of people can't handle it and take advantage of it.

Almost forgot, they are big on safety. Safety training at least once a month. Inspect trucks, LOTO, ladders and equipment before every roof. Not so bad after awhile. becomes second nature and lets me know they care about me getting home in the same condition I showed up in. Just a little dirty and tired.

Got a job offer today from LNAS, so far the best offer on the table. I have an interview tomorrow with a large commercial only shop in the morning. Unless they have more to offer I will take the LNAS job. It seems like a place I can fit. Thanks for the input.

I have been out of the Service Experts world for 4 years now, so i am assuming from this thread that IBS is now called LNAS?

When I worked for Service Experts, I had to study the IBS business model, and from my point of view, it was easy work that paid the company and the technician well. Benefits were always pretty decent within any Lennox company, and yes they love training and will send you to almost anything you ask for. Safety is also big in their world as mentioned above.

I really didnt mind working for SE, but it didnt work out well for them in our area once they decided to go through the "McDonalds" and "Starbucks" thinking of make every center the same as the next.

IMO, overall, not a bad company to work for.
