How old is my unit?

Hi.

I have a Williamson Temp-0-Matic unit in my basement.

On the side, there is a Williamson plate with the model number 7124-04-2003 on it. Can anyone advise what year my unit was made and what those numbers stand for, if anything?

Thanks, I am not an HVAC professional, but we have been having trouble with our unit all spring/summer and I'm trying to learn some basics so I don't look like a complete fool when I try to talk to our service man.

Your service man does not expect you to know the age of you equipment. It is immaterial at this point. Call him.

Oh, I already called him, twice in the past two months!

Just trying to learn about the hardware so I can keep track of all the problems he's fixed.

Was more curious about how old it is more than anything.

he could tell you, but model number doesnt give much info.... give us the serial number. your it.

Well, shoot, now I have to head back down to the basement...

OK, the little plate that has the model number doesn't have anything in the serial number area. Drat!

I looked around and saw no other markings on the outside of the case. I did however find an old entry on a piece of paper ("check out & service procedure") in a manilla envelope in the basement. It says, "7213113" for the serial number. Looks like it was typed out many years ago, since it isn't a fancy modern form.

prolly 13th week of '72. That makes it 38 yrs old!!!! I personally wouldnt put any more money in this POS

Looks like 1972. I would seriously look into replacing that unit. Probably not very efficient.
