I have been with factory Trane for about 13-14 years now and have only seen 2 leaking welds, 1 on a big 1200 ton heat recovery centrifugal and 1 on a RTAC. Usually when leak testing, welds are the last place I look, 99.9% of the time it is some flange leaking, I would say your leaking weld was an isolated problem.
If you dont stand behind our troops, please feel free...........to stand in front of them.

There was a mandatory retrofit a few years back that required a metal ring/plate to be welded around that spot, and also brackets welded onto both ends of the econo and cond. Then bolted together, to help stop vibration. Has this been done?

It looks like the weld has been cold rolled.

drivewiz: yes for support brackets at each end of econ. as for ring plate this is as found in pics. this unit has 2 brothers in same room and iam thinking the same problem likely exists with them. likely going to check them anyway. depends on what customer wants. thanks for info
