    Wholesale to Public

Steve, I quess a wholesaler can sell to the public if they so choose;however, if I was a contractor I would never buy from them. If a wholesaler sales to the public, he no longer is your supplier, but is a competitor!

    Wholesalers to Public

Steve, are you trying to tell me that all Hvac distributors are selling equipment to the public??? I am not saying it is never done, but I do not think it is done to the amount you say. From my experience, it does not appear to happen hardly at all.

I ordered 3 Bryant RT units from Webaire and when they came in 2 were Bryant and one was Carrier.

Spoke to customer, explained to him that we are unable to sell carrier due to conflicts as a Bryant dealer. I offered that if he wishes to use carrier at least consider replacing both a-coil and condenser, then went on to tell him about Trane..... well I just got back from his house....doing a load calc now on a 16 SEER Trane system.......hope I get this one!

    Thanks carrier for the motivation

It seems as though there several sets of standards in play here.
In your area,he has agreed to make Carrier,75% of his replacement sales, new construction is different.

When a customer wants a Carrier just tell them the turth. Since Carrier started making thier equipment in Mexico the quality of the equipment went way down. They send up equipment that has leaks in them and they expect us the dealer to fix them and not charge them for our time or material. We can't do business with Carrier. Do you really want a Carrier unit made in Mexico?

    Carrier what a mess.....

ps. did I mention that Carrier sucks the big one. I told you guys that 3 years ago.

We sell it ,and get the superior service ,you wish you could get.

It beats selling Nordyne, hidden under a "Frig-id-air" Logo.

we can't buy Carrier res equipment, but they'll sell us commercial stuff.

The biggest carrier dealer in this area, is a carrier direct, and they also sell heil as their second line.
I don't think they are allowed to sell bryant.

If you compare the engineering data (sound levels, capacities, etc) of Bryant and Carrier, you will find that they have exactly matching models over most of the product range. In nearly all cases, the only difference is the cabinet. Carrier has the plastic top and is a little more rounded and eye pleasing than the Bryant's squarish shape. But, Carrier/Bryant is not the worst offender for selling the same product under different brands. Compare York/Coleman/Luxaire. Then there is Nordyne that has bought rights to what seems like 75 old brand names (Westinghouse/Tappan/Kelvinator/Frigidaire... who else... that are exactly the same with a different logo.).

I think the manufacturers do this so they can cover the entire sales market. They push a "Carrier" to the guy who thinks he wants a top of the line unit. A "Bryant" to somebody not willing to pay for a Carrier... etc. Costs them the same either way and probably cheaper than actually having different designs.

If the customers actually knew the truth. Hey... the real truth is that the manufacturers buy a compressor from Bristol or Copeland, make a cheap coil, and stick it in a metal box. Then they make it sound like they have engineered a marvel. Right?
