Electric frurnac versus air handlers

My salesman boss has thrown me some parameters for the making of a residential bid he's working on.

Electric Furnace
Upflow -Heat only
75,000 BTUH

I've called one of the local wholesalers and he right away recommended a Goodman air handler. Trouble with that is they top out at about 5 Ton and that's significantly shy of the BTUH spec originally given.

I've also searched this site and the WWW for 'electric furnace' and am left with a question of tech school versus field terminology.

I always thought an air handler was essentially a horizontal electric furnace. It seems that from a technical perspective, it's not quite that cut and dried. My understanding at this point is the core technology is simply an electric resistive element/coil with an airstream blown over it. Is it what can go into the chassis after that, that makes it one or the other ?

A 20KW strip package is 68260 BTUs. A 5 ton air handler can use a heat package that big.

The electric furnaces around here. Were generally able to have more strip heat in them, then an air handler. And they would have to have the A/C coil installed downstream of their air flow.

If you really need 75K heating only, you would need 25kw strips. No point in getting a coil so look for a modular blower. York's can use 25kw. Probably should use a 5 ton blower but sure don't need more.

An air handler moves air. You can have cooling coils & electric heater elements in them, gas fired heaters, hot water coils.........all sort so things.
An electric furnace is just that,a blower moving air over electric heating elements.
More often than not they also have cooing coils in them as well.
If you go over 5 tons you need to move up to the commercial line of equipment where any all sorts of options are available.
