Ive been working on a scottsman 400a flaker the customer was complaining of brass filings in the ice when it melts.Ive torn this machine apart twice cleaned it with nu calgon cleaner.This eliminates the problem for about a month any ideas would be appreciated.

Brass in ice
Bearingas are worn causing auger to contact inside of evap. cutting brass away. Remove auger and look. I'd cut it off now until repaired. Probably cheaper to replace machine than evap.
Be safe not fast. body parts don't grow back

That's the "Kiss of Death" for a flaker. It's now time for last rites and a new Hoshizaki.

Top bearing is NG! Slam a new one in quickly or it is toast, probably already not too great!

I dream of finding flakers with brass in the ice!!! It makes troubleshooting so much easier!
