    Confused HELP Please !! MFD , VAV ,CAV

    Hellow everybody ..

    I hope all of you doing great

    I need to know when we have to use the following:


    MFD : Motorized Fire Damper & FD : Fire Damper

    VD : Volume Damper

    VAV & CAV : Variable Air Volume & Constant Air Volume

    mfd is used when the lifesafety code calls for it for a facility such as a hospital. it is used to isolate one section of a system from another, such as the ductwork from the central station ahu. many times wil be fitted with an end switch.
    vd is used when there are multiple taps off one duct. this helps to balance a constant volume system.
    vav is used for zoning areas with multiple heat loads serviced by one unit, such as office spaces.

    Can I use Fire Damper instead of Motorized Fire Damper in ALL cases ??

    In all cases you will have to use whatever is specified by the mechanical engineer who is bound by various codes.
