Robin, got a customer that has a heatpump unit built in 98,
compressor locked up, and she has a canceled check where it wasnt bought until 2000 but doesnt have the mod and ser# on it, the local distrub refusing to warranty anything without out it!!, she owns a property management firm and has bougth 5 more GMC since and is pissed, any idea who we can contact at the factory or company to help!!

the supply house she bought it from should have a record of the trasnaction to include sn model and purchase date, did you install this unit or just got called to work on it, what happened to the original installer.

It's kinda hard to do anything with a unit that you can't even prove what it is or when it was made. A cancelled check could be from anything.

Misunderstanding, data tag is there it is a 98, but was bought in 2000. But they finally found the receipt.
The biggest thing i found out during this ordeal is that
the local distributors here (there is multiple) SUCK and could care less if they help u out unless you bought the unit from them.
alittle dis-hearting!

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Yes, the warranty starts from date of installation or in the case of new home construction the date of settlement.
