I have a customer who has an older trane comfort manager and network manager. They would like to talk to their system from their LAN network in house. They have their network hubs in the same room as the Varitrane components. I talk to the system with Hyperterminal, a null modem cable, gender changer regularlly. Is there some way to plug the Varitrane system into the network hub? The hub has a spare RS232 port that matches a port on the network manager, and my Trane cable fits both ports. The customer has Hyperterminal on their local computers and then could talk to the system from any terminal in house.

I think what you need to do is:
Fit a rs232 to ethernet converter to the system, they are availabe from B & B electronics, they will also supply you with a piece of software that lets you access the serial port thru' the network.
