You'll probably get in then. I wish you the bet of luck. JLL is the best gig for a maintenance/HVAC tech I've ever seen.

You guys should be getting an offer soon if they want you. I got mine over the phone the next day after my interview. It took a month for me to start though with the background check and everything else. hang in there it may be different in other parts of the country.

I got my offer like you. After 1st interview next day had my 2nd and after we were done he said if i want the position it was mine. But it may not go like this for everybody. I think after a week you should know something.

Rock, you are right it is tuff to get in with no experience.

What job did you do when you were in the military?

Sorry to bust your bubble Rocky but it is hard to hire a person right out of a HVAC school with no field experience especially for the wages some people want, right now some well experienced techs are getting paid crap. I cannot get a friend hired with any commercial company because he has no commercial experience but he's been a residential tech for 11 years. Good Luck to you!

Hey guys, I've been with JLL for almost two years as a stationary engineer in Northern Virginia on the property management side. I made decision to leave my previous company after 18 years when JLL took over management of the building I was in. Best move I ever made. Hope to see you all in Austin next spring at the annual conference.

I know a guy that works for them and he is a hack, I do not like to use that word, but, they would have been better off hiring a guy right out of school.

Not saying that anyone is a hack "because" they work for them, just that he is a hack and they would have been better off with a brand new green guy.

You got hacks/wannabe's in every company, it all depends on how much everyone else is willing to cover for their butt's!

Sup guys. I think you are right, I'm just not going to get in this industry without experience..but how do I get experience without someone giving me a chance. I'm going to either have to find a unique opportunity where someone is willing to take me under their wings and work for nothing..probably. I'm exploring different opportunities (like electricians apprentice) but also still looking at HVAC stuff.

I was a weapons specialist in the Air Force so there was a lot of mechanical/electronics involved. That's another thing... no one seems to want to hire veterans..wtf!?

    /end rant

I came into this field with a strong electro-mechanical background too.

What does your resume look like?

If you went to school for HVAC, that and your experience as a technician in the Air Force should be able to get you at least a tryout.

Navy: That has been my thinking too and it's also why I'm so frustrated. I just don't understand. I have HVAC training, military training, civil Engineering training (no CE degree, just field work for a local company), I have my EPA certs and I have 3 years experience in general construction and NO ONE wants to hire me. Not having a pity party...that aint me, I'm a go getter... I'm just venting. I'm sure most of you can relate..

That sucks. When I interviewed they only emphasized HVAC, and they liked my experience. I think they figure you can figure out the rest. Try to get some more training in HVAC or get into an apprenticeship.

Job is going great and I love it. It really is a dream job for me. I have a great co-worker and we compliment each other with our different skills. We are learning from each other and that makes it fun, something different every day. It is the best carrier move that I could have made. Thanks for asking.

Hey everyone. One of my good friends works for JLL for about 3 years now in New York and absolutely loves it. Its perfect for him because he wasn't happy doing just service. He does more than just A/C for the company though...changes ballasts and ceiling tiles...etc... He got a brand new truck and tools and literally is smiling every time I see him. Now if we all could be that excited about our jobs. Also, he never even met his boss. Its all through email and phone calls. Sounds like a good place to work if you dont have a ton of a/c or heating experience. Just need to be reliable and honest and youll have a great job.

    JLL

I've been working for JLL as a hvac mobile engineer, or so I thought. I do more non- hvac work than anything else. The pay could be better as some area are union, and some are not ! I was union at my old job, took a $10/hr pay cut for stable work and some vacation time. I'm hoping that my boss is full of BS, as when hired he said he was starting me out at maximum pay. Reading this site sounds like I may have been taken advantage of and I should have asked for better pay.....
