Fit a casing of 16-18" in diameter around the BOP.
Make that casing extend to 121 AT. (4 k )
Fill the casing with cement, the pressures will do the rest.
The well will be capped.

This will work!
We hire all illegal immigrants and supply them with goggles and big gulp cups and straws! We pay them per cup load of oil, and then when they die, we collect our money!

The pressure coming out of that 21" pipe is close to 25,000 lbs.
Flanges are available with sets screws but it's hard to make this work when it is a mile down. They might not be able to completely
stop the oil but should be able to slow it down in a few days. The relief wells have worked in the past. They will bore into the leaking well and pump concrete into it with what ever pressure it takes. That mile down is the problem. If the environmentalist would let us drill closer the the shore it could be handled.Blue Fox

Are they flanges or are they male and female threads? Thats what they used on the TV show Black Gold.

I think we should save our thoughts for our area of expertise. Let the oil producers and experts fix the leak. Give them time and support and it will get fixed. Every day it leaks costs them more money. They will come up with a solution eventually. I hope Bp has lots of money to deal with the clean up and economic problems it has caused.

So much damage has done! BP should provide a lifetime benefits $$$ to the victims who suffered from that oil leak.

Actually the fix is quite simple. Put a wedding ring around the pipe and it will stop putting out!
