Thats pretty good because it is a shell and coil evaporator, not shell and tube.

Sorry to report I jumped waaaayyyyy ahead of myself.
It is a 200 ton RTAC.
Had to pull the building down, damn triple duties, and pull the strainers. Yup 3/4 plugged. Measured a 10 # differential after they were cleaned and a 5 # across the barrel. All is well. Lesson learned - PM is very important.

is this because ckt 2 is at 100% and ckt 1 energized to meet setpoint..
a plugged evap water flow strainer will cause this.,? why would it not trip both ckt 1 & 2?

Because he is loosing the building load. He stated 50 degree water. Which means even with low flow he is above trip points. When all circuits are running and pulling the temp down to setpoint or lower the compressor/s cannot unload quick enough. It may depend on which compressor is started first. I have seen low evap alarms and low ref temp alarms due to water flow. It all depends on the rla of the compressors at the time of low water flow. Such as primary variable water systems.
he never did give us any performance numbers to work with. it is possible that circuit #2 has other issues or is riding the edge of tripping but it just isn't tripping...yet. small differences can make big differences...if you get my meaning.
