    Was this man for real?

Was he a religious leader who proclaimed peace and equality?
    Was he an honest man?

Based on what I've read I would have to say yes and yes...at this point.

Persnal observation. If had not been cut down in his prime, the next step would have been for him to unify the blacks politically. Remember, Jesse Jackson was a very close young protege of his.

    Inf, thank you.

Rob10, gads .... linking anyone ...ANYONE at all to jesse jackson is like giving them a death sentance!
jackson is like how Ralph Nader started out forty years ago!
he was all mouth and no heart!

Now ... if you wana lump jackson with Jeraldo, then I might go along with your thinking.
Those two might talk a good talk every once in awhile, but deep down inside they're both snakes.

And I dont give a rip if jackson ever met, knew, hung out with or attended meetings with the late Mr. King.
They were nothing alike, in my observations and research.

Now I just might consider joining mr. jacksons group if he ever turned from hating people groups and began focusing his energy's on insurance companies in general!
    I hate big business.
I hate monopoly in any business.
I hate insurance as it stands today.
I hate taxes, as they are figured, calculated and extorted today.

If jackson ever wanted to turn his colors around and begin a fresh campaign against a real enemy in this country .... I might consider supporting his efforts.

Another way to describe jacksons is this; Clinton only dreamed of what Jackson wouldnt hesitate to do on a moment's notice!
Jackson has the balls, while clinton only had wet dreams about it.
Clinton was harmless in comparison to a man like jesse jackson.
Jackson and Hillary would make a evil team. Add Al gore to the picture and your have global thermal nuclear war within weeks!!!
Sadamy insane was a weak small time hood compared to those three if they were ever put together on the same project.

I just dont see lumping jackson to Mr. King.

    Sorry........

Can I ask how old you are and where do you live? I remember growing and seeing him on the news. Living in California I did not really understand what was going on. But I do remember he was different. and I would say yes to all.

I guess you have not seen my pictures online here. Nor my website. Oh well ...Dice likes to repost them from time to time just to remind folks how an old santa claus looks these days.

I am fifty and live in the South. Central Texas. Near Austin.
I grew up in the South. (Southern California ... that is)

I dont see a lot of streets named after any Kennedy's. not any of em.
Not unless you call "Slum Drive" or Cripple Hill" a street named for a Kennedy.

But Mr. King has a street named after him in almost every major city in the Nation.
And these are not insignificant avenue's either! They are major traffic thoroughfares!

Any man who tries hard to keep his name clean will have dirt thrown at him.
The question is, "does it stick?"

    R12rules,
Thanks for the reply. No I have not seen your picture youngster. I am 57 and grew up in central Calif. coast. I never quite understood the civil rights movement until 8th grade. Our principle at school explained the Jim Crow laws to our class one day, a day I will never forget. I remember thinking no thats got to be wrong people would not treat other people that way. Martin Luther King was different. He wanted what was right. That was my impression of him.

What part of the Central Coast?

That's my all time favorite area.
I once had the pleasure of working on a project Just below Santa Maria for six months.
Nearly every weekend I would take my family camping up the coast.

I am facinated by the history, the redwoods, the scenic drive along the ocean.
The lighthouses, Hearst Castle, I just love it.
