I like the hole idea. Great tip! LMTD is sharp. There is no denying that. I just remembered that I've replaced both my gauges with glycerin filled one though.

had a hole in mine for years since i have the damn dial cave held on with silicone at this time.

I put 100psi into my high side, then open both wheels, If both gauges read the same, I'm good to go.
