The Court House

Our big job this year is to replace the steam boiler and air conditioning system in the Bennington County Court House. I posted this picture before but I know I got a lot more. This job is just a photo waiting to happen. So I am starting a new thread.



This is how we found the boiler this morning after the abestos removal boys got done with their work.

Some neat old doors there on the left. I would be cleaning those up and hanging on to them. I will take them if you dont want them.

Looks like a whale carcass you see on the bottom of the ocean plucked clean by scavengers.

The old boiler that is.....

I wonder what the life expectancy of those asbestos removal guys is?Can you imagine what their liability insurance must cost?

I shudder at the thought........

That was a nice boiler in its time. I hope you had good help getting it out. I cant wait to see the pics of the new one.

This is a picture of the old condensing unit. It is now gone. We will set 2-5ton Tranes tomorrow. They will be up on a brand new pad that we poured today. They old singer was on concrete blocks. Which you can not see.



Inside the you can see the round ceiling diffuser. These diffusers will be replaced with square ones with fire dampers. The returns will remain and get fire dampers. The attic machine room is right behind the wall you are looking at. We found the old tumble drum up there today that they used to pick draftees for WW II. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of the old air handler.

There is an engineer on this job. If that is not enough to answer the question. Really I think he was trying to go for capacity control of sorts. Sometimes the court room would be packed to capacity and other times just a couple of ambulance chasers.

Besides I don't think he realized that they have 3 phase in the building.

Those are Singer Condensor unit? Looks like a Williamson to me.. But looking foward of seeing the complete pix.

Probably,I should of posted this one first. This is what this building looks like. It was built in 1934. It is a narrow building but it is quite long.

It is the fourth County Court House built in the 250 year history of the Town. The other 3 were all lost to fires. "Watch your torches boys!!"
