Wow, you should have seen this mess!!! We did a new house in the country for this guy and his brother-in law did the plumbing. We went back today to install the outdoor unit and saw what this guy did. He common vented a side vent water heater into the 3" PVC furnace vent with a "T". I told the HO about it and he said "bubba the hack " said it would be fine, how often does the furnace water heater run at the same time anyway. Well it is staying the way as far as I'm concerned it can stay that way until "bubba" comes back and fixes it.
If it ain't broke don't fix it!!

The only problem is, you saw the problem and told the HO. Down the road if someone gets sick or worse they could come after you for not doing anything to correct it. You need to write or type a letter explaining the problem to the HO and have him sign it acknowledging he's been informed. Keep a copy in your files somewhere just in case.

NO, I told him to have "bubba" fix it or I wouldn't give him a final waiver of lien. I was just playing hard ass saying what I said. I also disconnected the gas line to the furnace till he gets it fixed. This is one for the books. That's what happens when you get a union guy side jobbing!!
