Was in Beaumont TX. minding my own business while working on an exhaust hood on top of a C-Store with a Texas sized rain bearing on down. Cell phone rings. My old boss who was near and dear to me, tells me I have to make a decision right then if I want to run a 5 year plant project in southwest La. Tells me I have to be in the plant at 5 this morning. Needless to say that I have just put in my first day in that plant. Plus I'm only fifteen minutes from the jobsite. LIFE IS GOOD!!!

Yes, things do happen fast Rob, but it takes fast-acting people to realize the opportunity and grab it. Congratulations to you ( and your hot-wife too )

So what you are saying is the company that gave you a job when you needed it and was depending on you got the shaft.

I can understand the need to make a move to a better job more money and be closer to home but I also feel that you owe something to the people that gave you an opportunity when you needed it.

I am not ragging on you can't say I would not have done the same and you may have called your new boss and explained. Just I have people that were given an opportunity when they needed it and just walked off for various reasons and left the company in a lurch. It is contrary to the way I was raised you owe loyalty to people that employee you and give you a chance.

    Either way good luck.

They knew the situation up front when they hired me. In fact the service manager stated that during the short time I was there, numerous positive responses were given to him by customers. He told me if I ever needed work again, I had an open door. BTW, this company has 20 commercial techs which made spreading my work at lot easier.

Good to hear; you get where I was coming from. In business I think both sides owe it to each other to be fair and give notice of pending changes. I also understand from both sides you have to what you have to do.

Classic .. you sound like your old fashioned. Your obviously NOT a redneck!

As far as there being too many "foreigners" here in The Great State of Texas ... you shoulda been at my wedding.

My Father inlaw performed the ceremony. And my brother in law was the host.

There was an old family friend from Paris, here visiting with her husband, who happens to be a high ranking magestrate over there.

ANYWAY ...... my bro in law comes out, just prior to the ceremony of our wedding ... and he's got on this funky old straw hilbilly hat, fake mustache and buck teeth.
He had this flag put up on the wall behind the couch of the State flag of Texas.

Here's where it starts gettin interesting ....
Half the room was from "outa state".

He proceeds to announce that everyone here may not all be FROM Texas, but nobody tonight is leaving this house until they swear their allegiance TO Texas!!!

it was hillarious to watch the looks on everyones faces!

Then he pulls out, from behind the kitchen counter, this 12 gage pump and racks the thing ..... I'm tellin ya ... if there woulda been a chunk of coal up their drawers that night ... you woulda heard the sound of "Diamonds" dropping to the floor!!!

And then he made em put on the teeth, the hats, the fake mustache and all repeat after him their allegiance to Texas.

And to make matters even MORE interesting ... and maybe "nerve racking" ... he has them photographed as it's happening.....

Hmmmm..... I wonder what a picture of that French judge ... "in costume"... would be worth in American Dollars???
