Every year we turn in our copper and have a company clam bake with the money. So there is no fighting over the money. When we used to do a lot of markets this would more that pay for it. Now it is kind of company subsidised.
Put I have found that the only coalition between the price of scrap is what the dollar is trading on the currency market.
If the dollar is weak the price of scrap copper is up. And Visa Versa.

My boss had me take a truck load of scrap metal to the scrap yard last week. There was 2 8x4 cond coils on the truck. I was expecting nothing but I got $54.00 for the 2 coils in my pocket !! The guy said "dirty" copper is getting $.39 per pound.
