seems like a lot of salesman are going to have to eat their words after trashing magnetic bearings chillers for the last seven or so years. now what will york call an overhaul, changing capacitors? overhaul used to be just that, then an overhaul was the new buzzword for winterwork. with no oil, i guess overheaul will either mean punching tubes, or replacing capacitors. I stand by my feeling that this technology will be the wave of the future, and give them some credit for finally believing that. its a shame they didnt innovate the use, or even give credit to those who did.
Not surprising York's experience with magnetic bearing compressor technology goes way back before the current manufacturer who markets themselves as introducing this technology to the HVAC industry.
Hate to bust any bubbles, but York has been in the maglev game long before anyone else
just like the VFD on a chiller, been there done that.
Might not have been making small tonnage stuff like
T/C and McQ but the mighty M compressor in process
has been churning on mag lev for years. People bash JC
but York ain't dead and if you think they are you might
be in for a suprise or 2.
No disrespect intended for any ex old school
York boys there either
Superheat, that must be REALLY hot.
it's fun to work on a Y-M-C-A....................sorry, couldn't help myself after i watched that.
Johnson Controls
Ingenuity Welcome
except Einstein's, he's an idiot....and old......and dead......what a moron.........buy our stuff cause we're way friggin smart...yo!
the local boys do nothing but bash the technology. how the hell will they now sell it?
Yes they are making it i saw it at factory,
yes york has mag bearings long ago, it was big $$$ option
flange why were salemen bashing this tech what did they is wrong with it

Looks like york likes wasting R+D money, mcquay beat them to it by using someone elses design for large tonnage machines.

Heres a video of a guy talking how reliable they are.
I like the way JCI says they have been behind the developement of this for years when the truth of the matter is that York has been , who's BS'ing who.

Technology is a great thing, but with every advance, I see less work for us in the future.
Somebody is going to have change the compressor when it fails.
Sic Semper Tyrannis.
My hat remains off to McQuay for having the cajones to step out with the WMC.
God Bless our Veterans
God Bless the USA
But Johnson owns somebody where I work.
God Bless our Veterans
God Bless the USA
Lets see the WMC is 145-400 ton and the WME 400-550 ton the York 210-400 ton still like the McQuay better , oh and whats with the we can service the equipment better and faster than our competitors equipment yea.

The WME runs like nothing I've ever seen, it does not use the Carell controllers, it's able to ramp up to full load fast and if it jerks the LWT down, doesn't overshoot, doesn't seem to care about condenser water temp hot or cold. Very pleasant changes from the WMC.
I was reading that they could run down to 40 Deg. condenser water with tower bypass control configuration sweet.

Right wrong or in different somebody still needs to do a PM on that piece of equipment to ensure that it is running at or near design spec. critical or non-critical appilcation JMO.

From what I can gather the larger machine is a Daikin-McQuay
compressor-not Turbocore. There are a few pics of it on McQ's site
It looks quite different indeed.
For now the truly big iron will still rule, but the day is coming.
