If mc hasn't bought up the company that makes the drive and motor for it yet, that might be a good investment. I've heard they apply that same mag lev motor to other things, as well.

I wonder if the new modern York unit has a DX-9100 onboard.

i took care of an M compressor (5 stage) with maglev bearings in it at a natural gas liquifaction plant. ran great but the allen-bradley plc needed a lot of work to get it to start. once it was up and running, awesome!! everyone is afraid of losing work with these things, well, just think if you lose control power, the maching has to coast down on something other than a magnetic field....hence coastdown bearings and those can only sustain so many "landings". the work will always be there, just in different manners. oil less is nice too but the bearings with shield gases always needed attention and filters, and the capacitor banks needed thorough inspections. hopefully the technology will take off, those days of accidently dropping dirty oil filters on a customer's floor and having to clean up do get tiring.
We aren't service engineers, we are service re-engineers!! Work is what you make it, have fun.....

York may not be dead, but their support for the ISN UDC line of products sure is.
