Houston is a strange place to do A/C work. Unless your self employed, you can expect $10-$12 an hr. Maybe $14 if you have been at it a while. Most companies down here hire alot of their techs in the summer and work them to the bone then lay most of the techs off for the winter months which in houston is Oct-March. So its pretty ruff unless you can get in with a big commercial company which does alot of teardowns in the winter time. Don't try to find a Union A/C job, I havn't seen or heard of any a/c unions down here. Thats why after 5 years of it I decided to go back to law enforcement and do A/C on the side.
a good tech ..i mean real good can make base 18 to 20 per hour with spiff easily 50 to 60 per year but they all think they can do it on their own until they try and find out working 80 hours a week to make more is not worth it...we are always hiring...i have a lot of techs who make a base of 32k and bonuses of 12 or higher..call and fax us your resume..fox trot probably never work for anyone that ran anything but a wham bam operation ..that is about 85% of the companies..what is strange is to find someone that does it right...foxtrot i thank you for your public service to our community..my deepest respect to all who serve

AirMan its good to see someone that runs a quality operation, as you said in houston most A/C co's are wham bams that don't care about the Tech or the customer. From looking at your website I can tell your one of the few decent companies in houston. I found your bit about the fresh air intake interesting. I've been trying to chase down a loose duct causeing the negitive pressure but can't find it(bad dust problem). I'm gonna install a filtered fresh air vent on my system this weekend.
appreciate your feedback..dd
