WHAT is this TOOL ???

After 40 years you think you seen it all. Well I had a little heating project I was doing at home. After discussing the job with my old pipefitting friend he let me borrow this tool which made the project a breeze. I never saw one before so I thought you would like to see it.

(I will show what it is used for tomorrow- so please only post educated guesses. I'm sure some of you already know what it is)

for taking starting nipples out of steam radiators

internal fitting remover. Typacally used for radiator fittings.

We use them to remove what I love to say "nipples".

It's a nipple extractor. Say that 10 times.

Spud wrench, for going inside the rad fittings with the little hubs and holding them, like the guys said to tighten or remove em.
Also have them in plumbing mainly for commercial urinals and toilets.

Used to have one when I lived in Western N.Y. and worked on radiators.

I've seen Rich Trethewey use one on This Old House. I think it's more properly designated as a "Radiator Spud Wrench".

I did a search on it and found a whole lot about plumbing I really didn't want to know.

Looks like the tool to remove plugs from different sized barrels that contain oil and lubes.

a wrench used in the old days, to swedge rectangle copper refrigeration pipe. It came very square in the olden days.
