    When two cultures collide.

Just to keep you up on events in another facet of life.

Belgium Moves Closer to Europe's First Burqa Ban
    http://news.yahoo.com/s/time/2010040...VsbG5ic3BzdG9y

In the first article it seems most Muslims in Belgium are in favor of it.

Afghanistan Mullahs in London to bridge cultural divide
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/8588527.stm

In this article religious scholars came to London to find out first hand that the West does not ban their faith. It seems that many are fighting us because of propaganda about the West.

No article on the third tidbit. Saw a documentary on Saudi Arabia yesterday. It seems that they realized that pushing a strict religious interpretation of their religion was a mistake.

Their society is going through major changes. Where as ten years ago women would not even been considered to go past grade school they now are been allowed to learn the professions. (Doctor, lawyer...)

They realize they have to have people in technology and are trying to catch up to the West. Also the courses are being taught in English.

Yes they realize they have a ways to go but the prince that was being interviewed pointed to a hoof print of a camel in the sand and said as a people that is where they were one hundred years ago. That their society was not going to loose its past and culture overnight.

It was interesting to see a little of the veil being lifted.

OK your Muslim moment is over.

    Now the abuse begins.

    Pfft.
No reserve. No retreat. No regrets.

For those who have fought for it, freedom has a sweetness the protected will never know.

Anything that will move people forward, I believe the free flow of information will only help stop people from being blown up.

I could point to a pile of camel-poo and make some more current connection,... Just sayin'

Basically he was saying they were a tribal people with some of them still alive from that time. Society can only change as fast as the people are ready for. Traditions that define you as a people do not die easy. The changes that their society is going through makes your conservative - socialist debate look like a nonevent.

But not really the intent of the thread, more that the exchange of information is vital to the future.

Just taking the BBC article for example, I agree that they need to be educated or have some kind of actual reality-based comprehension of the REALWORLD. That is indeed part of the problem.

Of course, the other part of the problem is that they are a bunch of maniacle inbred retards. So I support the idea of trying to educate them. But please not integrate them, as agreed I think, they cannot integrate. That was basically the point made there, even if unintentional.

Trust in the corruptive influence of technology. Kids are kids all over the world. Give them all cell phones, video games, the internet and their society will look like ours in a generation or two.

That is a good point, I tend to agree. I have a muslim friend who has made a similar point. Basically, he said there are many muslim radicals in the USA [not that he personally knows any] but they are not willing to go 'jihadi' because they like their cars and houses and jobs, that sort of stuff.

I still say, integrate them into the modern world yes, in whatever way practical, but before we try to integrate them into our western society. At this current point in time, I consider them to be a parasitical disease on our modern culture. I say that concerning integration,...

Now then, concerning independent state\nations the same concepts apply but there is too much organized resistance to it\us. We are on a collision course, for sure.

The problem is the world is shrinking. Can't turn back the hands of time.

It would appear the world is shrinking, but we would free up much more area if we were to 'man up' and exterminate some of the unsuitable occupants in areas known for nuthin but trouble and strife.

And how do you plan to do that? Who is to take on the role of God almighty?

Lets take one country that was in the news today. Pakistan with a population of about 160 million. Would exterminating them meet with your view of what the world should be?

I would wait on Pakistan for the moment. I say take out North Korea and Iran, then go from there.

But it is the people running Iran that is bad, much of the population is against the government. If Iran had a west friendly government the people of Iran would come along faster than most.
