Refrigerant underground in direct expansion ground source heat pump

    Hi all,
Anyone familiar with the UK and more generally EU legislation? I hear that it is not allowed to put refrigerant in underground pipes in the UK (which would mean DX systems are not allowed?). Is it correct? How about the rest of Europe?
    Thanks and regards,
    Fabien

I do not know the laws in the UK, but do you really want to put refrigerant lines underground subject to vibration of the earth with rocks causing possible leaks? At least with treated water the leak will not cause to much harm.
