I have several R22 rotary compressors on stock, .5 to 1 Hp, outfitted with AB or MO oil.
Could I use them in medium or hi-temp refrigeration applications, using R22 or a different refrigerant?
For instance, I need a compressor for a very small walk in cooler, 34º to 40º box temp. The original compressor operated with R12. I could use R22 in this case, but do I have to change the evaporator and/or capillary tube?
I have no problems with a optional oil change if required.

Thanks -- Y’all take care, walter.

Are the capacities the same as the ones you're going to replace? If so, then I don't see a MAJOR problem going to a rotary, I guess. Might not last too long, though, under rough conditions.

You'd have to replace the metering device, not the entire coil, BTW.

    Thanks Dave,

Yes, they're brandnew and match the capacity. I'd like to convert one of them to R134a. You think this will work?
I would have to change the oil to PE, no problem.
I always thought the rotary is tougher than a recipr. comp.???

Thanks again, have a nice day (and friendly customers...)
    walter.
