CHW Pipe Weight
Steel sch 40 14” Chilled water Pipe , what’s the weight per Ft when filled with water?

I coming up with around 125 pounds per ft, at 42 degree water temp.

Thanks AS. My rough guess was 100+.
The reason I asked is there replacing the piping in my plant from 10” to 14” and hanging it from the roof of a “Butler Building”. The question was raised by the fitters if the roof can support this additional weight.

tell them the engineer checked it, and that they never make mistakes. besdies, it will be empty when they are hanging it!

I'm coming up with around 121, don't forget to add the weight of the insulation and hangers! I would defiantly get it checked out by a structural engineer. Don't want that roof collapse on your shoulders.
