Bottom line is it does not matter what denom you are. But to be a Christian, there are certain tenets of the faith that are not negotiable. (For example, it is negotiations that makes the RCC so controversial.) One of them is Jesus' deity. Another is His virgin birth. Yet another is the inerrancy of Holy Scripture...meaning the 66 books from Genesis through Revelation. There are others but these seem to be at the fore.
No reserve. No retreat. No regrets.

For those who have fought for it, freedom has a sweetness the protected will never know.

    Well done Daytona!!!

That song is a tradition down here... Given the music, your choice of icon is quite appropriate... I wish I had thought of this...

There is a misnomer in the story though... NO human in their own abilities could come near to matching Satan... he was one of the highest creations God ever did... However if we have the Spirit of Christ within us (all Christians do, whether they know it or not)... well can Christ trump Satan... Already happened on the cross... And all a Christian has to do is claim a Biblical truth "In the name of Jesus Christ"; and Satan has no choice but to obey... Because Satan knows he is sub-ordinate to that authority of the name of Christ. There is a LONG Scriptural explanation to this... If someone really wants it I will look up the vs and type it out.

This is a good point made here!

I will accept as my brother in Christ anyone that will publicly confess (that is state their belief) that Christ is their savior and Lord (lord as in superior they respect and follow).

I think where we get carried away here at ARP is hashing out the details too much... seems to be 'the ARP disease'... for lack of a better way to explain it.

I pubicly claimed Christ as my savior at a Methodist alter call of all things. I was the snapper everyone was asking questions about. Oddly enough, the girl I was dating at the time refused to marry me due to my Catholic heritage. Eventually we drifted apart after many arguments such as the ones that have been going on here on ARP. She found me on Facebook recently and she has converted to Catholicism....go figure

well, I'm going with a simple approach. God and Jesus = good, the church = bad. Over zealous religious fanatics, of all religion's are the root of all evil.

thats pretty much it. If I want to commune with God or Jesus I'll just take a walk in the forest.
I only drink a little, but when I do
I turn into another person and THAT person drinks a lot

I don't believe the church is bad. I used too until I found one that fit me. Nothing's perfect and there are problems everywhere with every church. Don't let that be your focus. We need the church to help us grow spritually and fellowship with others that may bring others to Christ.

The podcast above is from a sermon we had back in August of last year. Listen to if you have a few.

I really don't need some person telling me I sinned and then ask me for money or worse, tell me if I DON'T give to the church I'm going to hell..........whatajoke. I know right from wrong and I love most people (some not so much)

Money is an essential item for obedience to the Great Commission. No, that's not the 10% real estate agents got back in the 60's, it's the one where we are instructed in Matthew 28 to "go ye."

You don't need to be reminded of your sin? You are a rare person. For most of us, human arrogance leads us to say "oh, that sin is not so bad," etc etc.

The battle against sin is a daily occurrence, and we are not to take unfair advantage of our forgiveness. Instead, we should give to support the work of the church, which properly IS the body of Christ until the rapture.

Now, if we still had a barter society, we might bring a chicken of a goat to give. Since we are not using that system now, we bring some treasure to tithe.
