Where in SC are you located?

The building looks like one I'm familiar with in Surfside Beach...just wondering.

I've noticed the same thing at every condo unit...all the heat pumps get the same way. Must be a pain to have to replace them every 5 or 6 years!

    Hey swampfox,

what are the codes like down there? As far as height above sea level goes??

Shore communities are all different in Jersey. I did one not too long ago in Ocean City, the ho replaced one system and addded a second for the 3rd floor. we needed to built a wodden platform because the condensing units had to be 5' above the back bay flood level to pass code. I think it helps some. Atleast they are above most of the sand blast. Could mean a little extra $$ and save them some if it was possible to relocate them behind the house and off the sand.

    Just a thought.

    Just wondering........................

....... specs usually call for special corrosion resistent materials when located near or on coastal properties.

At least it gives me a ballpark life expectancy for the Heils that i import to Bermuda.
Ours, start to fall apart after 1 year.I'll post a picture of a 2 yr old carrier chiller next time and you can see that,For a Carrier....it's bad!

Looks like it's time for another condenser. A Carrier TZA Puron unit would look nice in place of that hiel piece of #!!#.

The last thing I would put there would be a purmoron unit. In fact I would find the cheapist unit I could for that place.

Learn to say R410a. Unless you are brainwashed by Carrier. It's like calling all motor oil Pennzoil. I refuse.

Good question.... the answer is much better

The coils seperate due to galvanic corrosion which occurs when 2 dissimilar metals touch, this is rapidly accelerated when salt water is added to the mix.

    good explanation here...
