    Carrier 17FA 40K Inspection

My boss has taken a job to perform a 40K hour inspection on a Carrier 17FA. I have been selected to do this due to my chiller experience. However, my experience is mainly on screws with some cent experience.

I believe the 40K inspection involves a front end inspection by taking seal, cplg, front housing and transmission cover off and checking thrust, end play and inspect gears for excessive wear. My prob is - what are the specs? I haven't been able to locate any manuals that provide me the info-any ideas.

They are also wanting us to provide a quote to "rebuild" the comperssor in the event we find a problem. What does this entail? Any constructive comments, suggestions are appreciated.

    Thanks

If this link works you should be able to download a good amount of detailed information on these machines.

your clearances will be slightly different depending on the size compressor... is it a #4 or #5 size compressor?
